It’s All in How You Look At It
By admin | August 29, 2007
My toddler and I went to the grocery store yesterday morning. I placed him in the shopping cart, grabbed a few items and went to check out. My items totaled less than $20 and I had 2 $20 bills. I gave the sales clerk a twenty dollar bill, received my change and left the store with my son still in the cart.
Later in the afternoon, I was looking for something in my purse. Then I realized my receipt was wrapped around my change from the store but I did not see the other $20 bill from earlier. I checked my pockets (twice), dumped my purse (twice) and checked my car (three times). I called my husband and told him. I told each of my children. I even called my friend in Nevada and told her I was not having a good day because I lost $20.
I know, I know there are worst things— or extremely more important things— that I could be concerned about. But, I think what was bugging me the most was that I couldn’t figure out when I lost it. We only went from point A to point B and my son was behaving well in the shopping cart. At what point was I not clued into my actions, movements or surroundings?
When my husband came home, I told him I still couldn’t find my $20. He just smiled and said, “You didn’t lose anything.”
I insisted I did.
He said, “You don’t have the $20 bill anymore because you were a miracle for someone who needed one today.”From that point, my not so good day was a rather extraordinary day. Were you a miracle for a job seeker, a manager, or someone you don’t know today?
